There are four reasons for using Cost Centre:

  1. Group employees for reporting purposes. For example you could set your Cost Centre Names to Factory, Warehouse, Office. Then you can run reports to see only details of each group independently. You can also set up Cost Centres as the departments to which invoicing will be sent.
  2. Group employees to match Payroll system. That is, if Time-Minder is used in conjunction with Payroll software that has Cost Centres set up.
  3. Differentiate what area people are working in. To do this, you need to make sure that the Card Number field contains the number of the Cost Centre swipe card.
  4. Job Timing. So that you know how long an employee has spent on a task or job.
